What is worth seeing at the Castle of the Silesian Piasts in Brzeg?
The Castle of the Silesian Piasts in Brzeg is distinguished by an exceptionally rich history dating back almost 800 years, and its significance for the cultural heritage of the region can not be overestimated. From 1311 until the death of the last descendant from the Piasts in 1675 it was the seat of the Dukes of Brest. During the course of their reign, the building was modified many times. Already in the 14th century, the Gothic chapel of Saint Hedwig was erected next to it, and less than 200 years later, in the 16th century, the castle was rebuilt to the Renaissance style. The royal residence in Wawel was modeled after this, which also resulted in the construction of, among other things, a characteristic castle courtyard surrounded by arcades.
